Catching Up

Wow! I can't believe that it's been two weeks since I posted here about the up and coming Voltaire show, which is now less than two weeks away. Generally, I try to get something new up here every week to week and a half. Sometimes though, I just can't make it happen.

One week ago this past Saturday, I bailed out of my small cottage ahead of another major ice-storm threat. I put Mr. Gray (the cemetery cat) in a rather large pet taxi and went out to my sister's place for a few days.As has happened so many times before, the deadly freezing rain didn't materialize for very long and instead, we were treated to a sleet event. Still, no one can recall getting so much of the stuff and it froze rock solid. It took several days for me to get home. If I had to choose one word to describe this winter it would be ghastly.

During my time there, the TV was on almost constantly and loud enough, that it was impossible for me to write. So what do you do in situations like that? You surrender to them of course, and that can be a good thing. Let's see, during my four day s there I watched two Star Trek films, re-watched The Conjuring, viewed Alien vs. Predator, several episodes of House of Cards, several installments of Bones and three episodes of The Walking Dead. Now that's a lot of TV crammed into four days!

While I was away, I received some news that has me reworking one of my stories. I'll likely talk about this more in the future but for now, getting that finished to my liking is a priority. There are other things demanding my attention as well.

All things considered, I do have something of interest lined up for a post, which I hope to present in the near future. For today though, I just wanted to check in and let you know that I'm still here. We'll catch you later.

  1. Sometimes I may go a couple of weeks without anything happening that is worth writing about, then I post three days in a row! I hope your property had no damage during the bad weather.

    1. There was no damage at all, App'y. But I couldn't believe how rock solid all of the sleet was. It seemed to take forever for it all to melt.

  2. Ooooh, "Alien vs. Predator"... LOVE that movie! Thanks for letting us know you are okay, as I was starting to wonder if something had happened. Glad to know it was nothing to worry about!

    1. "Alien vs. Predator" was okay, but I really like "Aliens," best out of that series. It was good to reconnect with "The Walking Dead" again as well.

As for the bad weather, it's very hard for them to forecast for this area. The slightest variables can change things significantly. My philosophy is, it's better to be safe than sorry.

  3. That weather does sound ghastly! I'm glad you and Mr. Gray are safe and well, and it sounds like you made the best of your time with some good TV.

    1. Yeah, it was good TV for sure. Still, it was good to get back home where I could preoccupy myself with other things besides TV.

  4. I like that little thingie on some people's sidebar that says Blogging Without Obligation. Because sometimes real life does get in the way of our best blogging intentions ... like trying to get income tax papers organized enough for the accountant and other boring things like that. :P

I'm glad you're back home safe and Mr. Gray is probably thrilled to be back to his regular routine, too! Looking forward to hearing your news in a few weeks! :D

  5. Actually, Insomniac, you already know the news. I just can't talk about it publicly until May or so. Re-doing things for that upcoming event is really occupying my mind these days.

Mr. Gray was indeed, happy to be home and back to the routine.

  6. Seems like all the good shows are a way out of the way. Like your writing. Along with reading it, I have been reading "Seven Gothic Tales". Great book. Fayet-hell, oh how I lived and died there. 1 week away from that show, and, I already feel the pain. So little pleasure, so little time. That, and Arkansucksalot always seems so out of touch, aside from the side cities. The Ozarks, how I would love to visit there. Attempted to join your site and keep up, but, google kept giving me problems. Have any other way to keep up with up-dates? By the way, keep up the writing. I enjoy your work.

  7. Thank you Cire! If Google is giving you problems joining to follow this site the only thing I can suggest is that you just keep checking in here. I do have a post of a different type planned for the near future.

I'm not quite sure that I agree with your feelings about where I live. Nothing's perfect of course, but I like it here and sometimes living in a place that's out of touch can be a good thing.

    Thanks for your comments.

  8. I am absolutely hooked on The Walking Dead! Initial reaction '
"another zombie show?" But when your beloved is obsessed with zombies, you have to eventually give it... and I certainly don't regret it :)

    1. I like the Walking Dead too. I just don't ordinarily watch regular TV. So, I watch it on DVD or when visiting.
