Adult Wednesday Addams

Okay, first things first: I'd like to wish a Happy New Year to all of you, my readers and followers. I hope you all had a great holiday season.

A short while ago, I discovered something of interest while visiting the The Gothic Tea Society's web page.
At the time, the society's most recent post had been in actuality,  a series of videos entitled Adult Wednesday Addams. I watched a couple of the video shorts and quickly came to the conclusion that they are absolutely hilarious.
The Adult Wednesday Addams series is the creation of comedy writer and actress Melissa Hunter, who plays the part of Wednesday, now a young adult finding her way in the world outside of the Addams Family household. Hunter sometimes refers to herself as Wednesday's alter ego and after watching her productions, it's easy to understand why. Gone is the cuteness and innocence of little Wednesday's demeanor from the original series however; instead, she's wonderfully morbid and handles each situation with an air of self confidence. The adult Wednesday is most definitely in control of every situation that confronts her.

I'm including Episode 2 here because it's my favorite, but you can find the others by going to http://www.youtube.com/user/heymelissahunter?feature=watch">Melissa's YouTube Channel,
where she plans on adding more of these comedy skits in the future. Enjoy!

  1. I LOVE this!! She is totally Wednesday Addams as an adult. I think I'm going to be as hooked on these as I am on Dark Shadows (I watched Episode 117 today)! :-)

    1. I have to agree with you. She's totally believable as an adult Wednesday Addams and I'm hooked on her videos myself. As for Dark Shadows, you're slowly catching up to me. I'm on episode 177.

    2. I'd be farther along except that I've limited myself to one episode per day at lunch (I allow a second ONLY if it follows a cliff-hanger!), and none on weekends. I'm trying to see it as it was on TV, to savor it and have something to anticipate at lunch the following day. But I have to admit, I keep wanting to smack both Vicki and Carolyn... grow UP and get spines, girls!! ;-)

    3. All I can say about Dark Shadows is, hold on to your seat; because things are going to start getting quite interesting soon--and you might become proud of both Vicki and Caroline.

    4. What, do they get together and BOTH push Roger off the cliff???? ;-)

    5. What? Throw my favorite character over the cliff? Actually Lucretia, I'm remaining silent because I don't want to spoil it for you. Roger really is a snake in the grass though. That's why I enjoy his character so much.

    6. It's SO hard to keep quiet, isn't it?? You want to talk about it with someone else who enjoys it, but if you're not on the same episode you can't! I had to do that with one of the Lord of the Rings movies because I had read the books but my husband and son hadn't, and I didn't want to spoil it for them.

Yes, Roger is TOTALLY a snake in the grass, and a pretty wimpy one, at that. I'd push him off Widow's Hill in an instant if I were in a position to do so! Plus, the actor and his character remind me a lot of J.R. Ewing from "Dallas" (which I didn't actually watch, but EVERYBODY knew J.R), so it's even easier to hate Roger's guts, hehehe...

So far, my favorite characters are Elizabeth, Joe, and Burke, but that's only because Barnabas hasn't appeared yet!

    7. And I'd have to list Carolyn, Burke and Sam Evans as my other favorites.

    8. I like Sam to a point, but I have to admit, there's something about him that turns on my warning bells (probably the alcoholism, my ex was one). Until Matthew confessed, I was pretty sure HE was the one who killed Bill Malloy!

Hmmm, this is turning into quite a long Dark Shadows conversation, sorry!

    9. Nothing to be sorry about, Lucretia. I enjoy discussing Dark Shadows.

  2. That's hilarious! I'm going to go watch some of the other episodes now while I have some time - she's absolute perfection! :D
